Description
Somewhere off the coast of Britannia is a small island perpetually shrouded in mist. On this island live two trees, side by side, their roots gripping into the rocks and their leaves reaching for the heavens. The trees are ancient and sacred and are filled with great wisdom and knowledge, for they have been watching the world a long time. The ocean laps gently upon the shores of the island, always calm, always serene. When massive storms approach this region of the world, the surrounding ocean whips into a frenzy, the wind shrieks, and rain and lightning slash and cut through the atmosphere, all to the chorus of thunderous rumbles. The land and the other islands are battered and swamped by the maelstroms…but this island, protected by its magic, remains unscathed: still the sea washes quietly against the shore, the trees stand steady or sway slightly in a gentle breeze, and the air is undisturbed. It is said that if a person reaches this island and hears the thoughts of the trees, that person would know how to bring peace and understanding to theirself and to the world. But it is an arduous journey to this island; only a few have made it, and when they returned to the world to share their new understanding, they were ridiculed, tortured, and killed and their teachings were twisted and manipulated to suit the needs of hateful hearts. These trees may seem immortal, but they are not; they are just very, very long-lived. Nor will the island stand forever; in this world, sooner or later all things pass. How much longer will the island exist? And how much longer will the two trees continue to watch and wait for one who can come and take their knowledge and understanding and successfully bring both to the people of the world? For the trees wait not just for one who can make the journey to and from the island, but for the people of the world to open their hearts and minds to the treasures that are brought to them.
