Artist's Description
This was a painting I made of mine and Jimmy’s kitchen way back in the last millennium. The oven was a gas oven. On top of it was our tea kettle, which we used for boiling water to make coffee, and sometimes tea, and our favorite cooking pot for cooking beans. Overhead was a shelf with a lazy Susan holding spices, boxes with tea bags, bottles with olive oil, vinegar, and other condiments. Underneath the shelf was a light, to help us see when we were cooking. We put pegs on the wall to hold utensils, such as potato mashers, spoons of many types, and spatulas, as well jar holders, hot pan holders, pizza slicer, garlic press, a hatchet, a very long wrench, a crowbar, and iron skillets. The sink next to the stove was our second sink; it’s gone now and sometimes we still reminisce on how nice it was to have a second sink. The stove is also gone.
